DSC01002 | The Bayonne Bridge was designed by the same architectural firm as the bridge over Sydney Harbor, Australia (acc. to Capt. Hughie). No wonder they look exactly alike. Bayonne Bridge opened to traffic in November, 1931, and acc to Wiki, the gold shears were sent to Australia for the opening ribbon-cutting of that bridge a short time after. The Australian delegate who attended the Bayonne ribbon cutting insisted his bridge was longer, when in fact the Bayonne bridge is longer. | ![]() |
